Embers is a multidisciplinary exhibition that explores the Black menopausal experience through themes of transformation, ancestry, memory, and empowerment. Centering Black and queer perspectives, the exhibition challenges the silence and stigma surrounding menopause while honoring the body as a vessel of history, ritual, and lived experience.
Through a collection of artworks, Embers examines the complexities of aging, desire, identity, and post-reproductive power celebrating menopause not as an ending, but as a profound period of renewal, wisdom, and self-discovery. The exhibition creates a space for intergenerational dialogue, honoring the stories carried forward and the connections that continue to burn across generations.

Visual Identity
Embers Visual Direction explores the themes of transformation, ancestry, and embodied memory within Embers: A Multigenerational Exhibition on the Black Menopausal Experience. The visual direction was inspired by the symbolism of fire not as destruction, but as a force of renewal, power, and evolution.
Using a palette of deep reds, burgundies, and blood-like tones, the work draws connections between the physical experience of menopause and the deeper histories carried through generations. Smoke, flame, and organic textures become visual metaphors for ancestral memory, ritual, and the body as an archive of lived experience.
The imagery seeks to challenge traditional narratives surrounding aging and menopause by portraying this transition as a period of emergence rather than disappearance. Through layered compositions and symbolic elements, the posters celebrate the resilience, desire, wisdom, and power that continue to exist across generations.
