Wish You Well is a melancholy indie record highlighted by the internal conflict of a budding musician growing weary of the pursuit of success. That record acts as a split within Royale's artistic sound, that musical illustrations that departure of his old self and old sonic persona.

This project posed the unique challenge of creating a cohesive visual story from a hard drive archival b.t.s and b-roll that offered snapshots into Royale's artistic odyssey. Austin had the idea of using old vlog-style footage from his hard drive to create a visualizer for his then up-and-coming single "Wish You Well."The hard drive of footage mirrored the intentionality of Royale's lyrics and the tonality of the backing instrumental. After surfing through this sea of footage, I began to think, "How could I couple this footage with fresh shots culminating in an original idea that is greater than the sum of its parts and felt even more personal and introspective? My curiosity led me to film the artist in an open setting void of peripheral elements, in conversations with himself. Illustrating the varying emotions encapsulated by the track. I felt that would force viewers to focus on Royale's energy, expressions, and body language radiating from his s silhouette juxtaposed against a crimson background of rotating memories. With a tiny bit of video magic, ingenuity, elbow grease, and a fifty-dollar budget, Austin and I got to work.
